About me

I grew up in San Diego. I was turned on to photography by my father who bought a 35mm Canon Rebel for me when I was 16. After my first black and white photography course I was hooked for sure. Seeing images come to life in the dark room was amazing. After moving to Los Angeles, I converted our garage into a dark room. I worked at Samy’s Camera during the day and then printed in the dark room at night. My wife worked late hours as a waitress, and when she got home she’d simply knock on the garage door to let me know it was time to come in. At that time, I primarily shot landscapes. Photography led me on many adventures with friends into the wilderness. Those memories are priceless. Around 2005 I purchased my first DSLR, a Nikon D80, and dove into digital photography and Photoshop. We eventually moved back to San Diego and not long after I bought my first surf housing for my camera. I’ve loved the beach since I was a little kid and surfing has been a huge part of my life. I’m not entirely sure why I didn’t start shooting waves earlier but better late than never right? I’m very fortunate to live in San Diego where we have amazing beaches and such diverse marine life off the coast. I’m not sure where my photography journey is going to lead me, but for now I’m taking it one wave at a time.
